Smith Offices
Our Team was retained to transform Smith’s 615m2 office space into a more dynamic and creative atmosphere with an industrial vibe. This included a complete transformation of the interior space to include new millwork, finishes, furniture, custom millwork and feature areas. The complete redesign represented Smith’s creative personality and values while creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing office environment.
We were to incorporate the company’s core values and vision for the future. Smith was striving to create a more open, creative environment that had the raw industrial feel. We selected finishes and designed details throughout the office that brought in raw natural materials (concrete, wood) while using their branding as pops of colour throughout the space. Smith required furniture which followed the same feel and was not your standard office workstations. Custom desks and wood dividers were built to using the raw industrial styling to make the space flexible.
A constraint of the project was creating workstations that were not the standard office style but were highly flexible. Smith often moves people around as one project ends and another begins, therefore they needed a desking solution that would allow easy transformation of groups and provided privacy where required. We worked with Smith to design custom desk and wood dividers. The dividers were built on castors and had white boards attached for easy moving as the groups changed and doubling as collaborative area if needed. Bringing the industrial styling into the office space while still creating a fun, creative space for the employees to work was one of Smith’s requirements. We designed custom millwork and accents throughout the space that featured the industrial finishes (wood, concrete, metal) and used an open plan with colour accent furniture to bring in the collaborative and creative side. Some of the features brought in were a custom designed reception desk with Smith branding on the front, carpet with random accent coloured inserts that matched their branding shape, window film on meeting rooms in a variety of fonts/patterns, lounge furniture in open office areas.
