The Spire Student Housing Fit-Up and Furnishings

Our team was retained to lead the interior fit-up and furnishing for the retrofit of an old church into a 58-unit student residence. We prepared detailed interior layouts, finishes specifications and complete furnishings (including furniture, housewares, drapery and more) that would be functional, aesthetically pleasing and enhance the old and new aspects of the building being blended in the new student residence.

Our overall objective was to create a unique community environment that was functional, youthful and welcoming. The residence was to be considered a ‘retreat’ and a place to call home, in the midst of the busy and stressful life of a student. We provided high quality construction drawings, specifications and space planning to ensure ease of communication with the Investors and construction team throughout the planning and construction phases. Space planning, furnishings, finishes, lighting, etc. were all thoroughly explored to achieve a high level of functionality & ergonomics within every space. Offering a variety of finishing & artwork options to allow for unique personal & social interactions that are comfortable & inviting.

This project involved a strict budget and timeline to be completed before the start of school which was met due to the organization and communication provided by the our team.
The main constraint we had was the budget and trying to source finishes & furnishings within the give budget while still providing the high-quality product standards that could withstand the abuse of student living.

Another major constraint was the size of each suite vs the requested amenities. Every inch and detail had to be taken into consideration in order to maintain the functionality of the space while creating a comfortable living environment for the students.
