Ian Young
Ian L. Young is an Architect with PR-TY and has been practicing architecture since 1990. He oversees all projects, and manages staff teams involvement from the design stage through production and construction stages. He is also responsible for the day to day management of Standing Offer contracts and relationships with clients and consultants. He currently oversees a sub-team of the office which manages projects, studies, fit-ups, and furniture for a large Government agency.
His expertise include feasibility studies, master planning, project management as well as design of institutional, commercial, hospitality, heritage and residential projects.
Some of his past projects include: University of Ottawa - MacDonald Hall Science Laboratory, multiple projects for Algonquin College, and the Canadian Space Agency. He is directly responsible for the supervision of many projects and continues to be actively involved in overseeing the production of working drawings and construction phases for a wide variety of building types and Standing Offers. Most recently these include Deacon Brodies Restaurant, St Anthony’s Coptic Monastery and master plan in Perth and St Joseph’s Coptic Church, Social Hall and classrooms in Navan.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Young worked as an architect for Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners in Reading, England (1981); for the Ministry of Education, Kano State, Nigeria (1981-83); and for the Community-Based Building Program, Papua New Guinea (1984-87).
Ian graduated with a M.Arch from the University of Manitoba in 1980 and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, University of Manitoba in 1974. He is member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) since 1990. He received LEED NC accreditation in 2006.
